Message Passage 2, Explanation, and Citation

We kissed one more time and then he touched my face gently and said, "I love you, Katherine. I really mean it ... I love you." I could have said it back to him right away. I was thinking it all along. I was thinking, I love you, Michael. But can you really love someone you've seen just nineteen times in your life? "I've never said that before," he told me "I'm glad." "I want to hold you all night." "I want you to."

This passage is illuminating a message because of the message it shows about love. In this passage Michael tells Kath he loves her but she can’t say it back although she feels like she loves him too. This passage shows that you should never say I love you unless you are sure you mean it. I love you is a very strong statement and it can either make a relationship or break it if you don’t mean it. The message in this passage is strong and can relate to many people’s lives.
