"Michael ... do you have something?" I asked. "What for?" he said, nibbling my neck. “You know ... " "Didn't you finish your period?" "Last week ... but I'm not taking any chances." "If you're thinking about VD I promise I'm fine." "I'm thinking about getting pregnant. Every woman has a different cycle." "Okay ... okay ... " He stood up. "I've got a rubber in my wallet ...

This passage illuminates a message. Kath believes that she is finally ready for her “first time”. As Michael and Kath get ready for their first time, Kath mentions a rubber better known as a condom. The message is that you should have safe sex, especially at such a young age. It shows maturity and helps protect you from pregnancy and STD’s. this is a wonderful message for all ages, sex can be a great thing but all good things can turn bad ,therefor, you should take the proper precautions beforehand.
